Another Week In The Provo MTC

Hello everyone! Somehow its already been another week??? The weeks really do start to fly by, its so crazy! I will be in my mission in less than two weeks which is wild! Im a little nervous but mostly excited! All of the elders in my district leave on Tuesday which is sad but all of us sisters have an extra week for visitors center so we get to be together for another week which is such a blessing! I'm so grateful for the sisters in my district and for my comp. They are all so awesome! And it has been so fun to meet so many other awesome people here. It will be sad to say bye to all my friends but I am excited to get to Mesa and to get to be by the temple every day!

Something fun this week has been SYL or Speak Your Language so basically only spanish for an entire week. We started on Monday and I made it a goal to do 5 pushups for every word I accidentally say in English so that has been fun haha! My arms are definetely sore. Anyways I am learning so so much so fast and it is so fun to see how much I have imporoved, even in the last couple of days. The gift of tongues is real like it actually blows my mind how much spanish I have learned in such a short amount of time. We are constantly laughing cuz we say stupid stuff when we don't know the words or what to say and it's hilarious.

In class on Monday we were teaching and studying the restoration lesson and our teacher had us try and do it in 2 minutes which is so difficult cuz how are you supposed to explain the entire restoration and extend an invitation in 2 minutes??? But we practiced a few times and I ended up doing it in like a minute and a half and it was entirely in spanish which is awesome sauce! Practices like that get me excited to start teaching real people and its fun to teach the gospel in such a simple way. Had another mock lesson thing and it was a 25 minute lesson in spanish and it was a little rough cuz the guy we were teaching barely talked but it's good practice for when I actually get to the mission field.

I played kickball a bunch this week with my district too and have still been playing basketball and volleyball lots which is epic. Also one of the Hermanas in my district has a kandama and I am obsessed. I play with it every night before bed. Check my google photos for the video and pics. I already had my mom order me one lol.

There are roughly 3000 missionaries here right now so meal time is absolutely insane and the lines are sooooo long. When I get annoyed at the long lines I try and remember that everyone who is here right now has sacrificed so much to be here and then I usually get less annoyed. But if you know me well enough you know I can get a little hangry sometimes and when I do there's no fixing my mood until I eat so that doesn't always work lol.

The devo last night was by Sister and Elder Bowen and it was so good! They talked about the tribes of Israel and our ancestry in the Book of Mormon and it was super interesting. And also about how we have sacrificed too much to be here to mess it up by doing stupid things so just to be obedient. I'm gonna miss the weekly devotionals when I get to the field so I am trying to take advantage of them in my last couple weeks here and get everything I can from them cuz they are always so good!

A quote from my studies this week is from a talk by Elder Holland. The talk is called "The Laborers in the Vineyard" from April 2012 and it's an incredible talk so everyone go read it. Anyways there was a ton of good quotes and awesome stuff in there but something I liked was when he said "surely the thing God enjoys the most about being God is the thrill of being merciful, especially to those who don't expect it and often don't deserve it." I like thinking about how God and Jesus Christ are cheering us on and when we fall short, they are there, waiting for us to reach out so that they can help us. It brings them joy to help us, just like it brings us joy when we help others. Anyways that's my spiritual thought for the week. Go read that talk or some other Holland talk cuz every single one of his talks is so good.

Thanks for all your emails, if I didn't respond yet then I will respond when I can. Love and miss you all so much!
