Week 2 In MESA!
Hola a todos! Miss you all and hope you all had a great week! My week was pretty eventful and I am learning so much every day which is good! Being a missionary is hard and scary but even on the hardest days, there are things to be joyful about!
Ok so this week was crazy! We had so many lessons with so many different friends! It was fun but mostly I just sit there and smile and try to bear my testimony. My comps give me chances to try and teach and I say what I can and they fill in the gaps. Sometimes it goes okay and sometimes I have absolutely no idea what to say and I try and stutter my way through but my spanish is improving a lot and I can bear a simple testimony and that's all that matters.
We are teaching a ton of people right now and since we are in the VC half the time we don't really have room to teach anyone else so I have only gone knocking doors one time so far. We actually only knocked one single door and it was a find haha. Hma Jones was driving and she randomly turned left onto a street she had never been down and then we looked at this one house and I said "let's go knock it" and we did and found Eleazar! Miracles happen every day on the mission you just gotta look for them. Also we put one of our friends Margarita on date for baptism which is exciting!
I am still loving being in the visitors center! Sometimes its hard when it's slow because it feels kinda unproductive to just sit there all day but those are the days where I just get to catch up on my journaling and get in some peacful study time.
This week in the VC a man named Larry came in he had apparently came in a few days before and asked one of the other sisters for her phone number. Anyways we hadn't met him yet but he came in and asked if we had a whiteboard he could use and we told him he could go upstairs and check. He was wearing a white shirt and tie so I kinda assumed he had like come from work and wanted to study or something?? Anyways like 30 mins later Sister Henrickson, the VC director, came down and told us the the man who had come in was named Larry and he had apparently prepared a lesson on virginity to give all of the sisters there. There is a bunch of cameras all around and temple security guys so temple security came over and he refused to leave and since it's private property the real police came and arrested him for trespassing and it was this whole big thing. Anyways Larry is no longer allowed to visit the visitors center haha
Also since Hma Jones leaves in 2 weeks and Hma Gonzalez doesn't have a liscense I have been driving for the last few days so I can start to learn our area better and it has been so fun to drive again!
Saturday night we had two dinners again. It's a huge blessing that we get fed so much but sometimes its just too much food haha. We sat down after already being full from the first dinner and she handed us each two HUGE loaded hot dogs. I also don't really like hot dogs and it was our second dinner so it was not a good mix. Said a prayer that I wouldn't throw up and I didn't so it was a sucess! Counting my blessings fr
Ok this week I studied "The Character of Christ" talk by Elder Bednar from 2003. The first devo I had in mtc was about this talk so I wanted to read the whole thing. Something that stuck out to me was how in Christ hardest moments, when he was in the deepest despair, he still reached out and he still "offered to others the very blessings that could and would have strengthened Him." He suffered the most but He has the most compassion for all of us who suffer so much less. I just love how when we turn outwards and serve others, even in little ways, we are able to find so much joy and peace.
Ok that was basically my week. Miss all of you and love you all! Email me whenever and I will respond when I can!
