Sweater Weather And Changes To The VC!
Hello everyone! Hope you had an awesome week and that you are all enjoying the fall weather! It finally cooled down a bit here which is awesome! It was in the 70's for two whole days and I wore a sweater both days and it was sooo nice! I am so beyond excited that it's less than 100 degrees now. It's back to being in the mid 90's all week next week but the couple of fall days were so nice! All my friends in other missions are dreading winter but I am so excited for winter here haha. This week was a grind, especially with the extra day but lots of awesome things happened!
A BUNCH of people were baptized in our mission on Saturday and there are just so many crazy miracles and awesome things happening in the AZMM right now! We are striving to find the elect. Those who are truly ready. Not just random hispanic guys who just want us to teach them cuz they think we are cute (this happens way too often its alarming) but people who are truly ready to change and to hear the gospel.
We made cookies for some of our friends who are going through a hard time and visited them. A good cookie makes everyone feel better! Also had a little blitz with my district in our area because we've been struggling a bit recently to find people to teach and it was so good and we found lots of people and I am slightly less scared to knock doors now which is good!
I had an exchange with Hna Pearson which was fun! While I was away in a different area for the day, my comp knocked a door and found someone who used to be taught by missionaries. I had randomly put a contact with this same person on our calendar during weekly planning that week. My comp didn't know it was that house or anything and just happened to knock her door the day before we had that contact scheduled. It was kinda crazy. And she lives right by the church yay!!
The Mesa Temple and the Visitors Center was reconstructed and dedicated about 3 years ago. The VC here is really unique and special because its way more interactive and modern than the other ones. But unfortunately there isn't a Christus like the other VC's. We get asked like 5 times a day why we don't have a Christus statue like the old visitors center or like all the other visitors centers around the world and we usually just kinda brush off the question because honestly nobody knows why they took it away when they reconstructed the visitors center. But a couple weeks ago we got the exciting news that we get a Christus statue and it's actually getting finished today so we are so so excited! It was a big secret we had to keep until it was finished cuz we didn't want to spread any chisme. I might be slightly biased but I think we've got the best VC haha! I just love being there, I can't say it enough.
Transfer calls are saturday and transfers are in a week and I've got no clue what's gonna happen. But I'm still liking it here in the Adobe branch though and am absolutely pumped for the Christmas lights at the temple to start soonish! It will be towards the end of this upcoming transfer but I'm already getting so excited. Thousands of people in the VC every day for like a month and a half sounds so awesome and especially with the Christus being put in, it will be so busy and crazy! Time is starting to pick up a bit and I am definitely adjusting a bit more to everything, being a missionary is hard but it's crazy how joyful it can be.
My pequeñito pensamiento espiritual for this week is by Bruce R. McConkie from the "Atonement of Christ" and theres a part that I really like that reads "It is the foundation upon which all truth rests, and all things grow out of it and come because of it. Indeed, the atonement is the gospel." As I have studied the atonement and learned to rely on it, I have come to better realize how all encompassing Christ's atonement is for each one of us individually. In my last new missionary training meeting yesterday my mission president was closing the meeting and he said "you are entitled to his help." We are all entitled to Christ's help because he knows us better than anyone. We all have someone who knows us, loves us, and wants to help us and we all deserve and need that help sometimes, regarless of how inadequate we may feel. Each one of us is entitled to that divine help because of the atonement and because He loves us. That's why "the atonement is the gospel."
Love you all and hope you have a super awesome week! Enjoy the mountains for me cuz I miss them a lot. I heard it snowed in UT which is wilddddd, pobrecitos. Ok bye love you all!
