Christmas Zone Conf And Miracles!
Hola a todos! Espero que todos hayan tenido una buena semana! Ya casi es Navidad! Christmas is in 2 days but it's still 75 degrees haha. Arizona is crazy. I am so so tired from Christmas lights. Fighting the urge to fall asleep every time I sit down somewhere. Ive also gotten so behind on journaling rip. But the holidays are fun so it's worth it. Knocked so so many doors this week. Had a friend named Diego come to church yay! Overall a great week!
We had zone conference on Tuesday and it was so fun! We did a live nativity, had a "snowball" fight, ate good food, and got to hear lots of good spiritual messages. In our zone breakout we talked about how we can truly rely on Christ and give all our struggles and trials to Him and how He can help us through them. I love zone conference and it's always exactly what I need to hear.
We knocked tons of doors this week and had some silly interactions but saw lots of miracles. We were knocking these apartments at like 8pm and they are kinda scary at night and all the sudden the lights just turned off which was kinda freaky. We knocked a door and a guy yelled thru his door "to whom do you represent?" and we said "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints" and he said "NO I'm Jewish." Then like 2 mins later we knocked another door and a lady answered and we said "Hi we are inviting people to the local Christmas lights show. Have you been before?" and she said "Oh no thanks I'm about to take a bath" and then slammed the door and we stood there for a sec and then started laughing so hard.
We knocked on a door and a guy answered and he was so so nice and we invited him to Christmas lights and had a short conversation with him. We knocked the next door and a scary man yelled really loudly thru the door "who is it?" stuff like that happens pretty regulary but for some reason me and my comp both got the absolute worst feeling and we all the sudden super scared. We walked away and down the stairs as fast as we could. Then we both felt really strongly like we should go invite the nice guy to church even tho we had already knocked his door and talked to him. Not sure why we were so scared of the guy who yelled thru the door but we both just had a horrible feeling. We also felt really strongly that we needed to invite the other guy to church so we waited there for a few minutes and then knocked the door for a second time. We invited him to church and he was super interested and had a genuine desire to learn, it was so cool. As soon as we knocked the door and started talking to the guy again, the crazy people in the apartment stopped yelling and it went silient. Crazy to see how Satan tries to get us not to act on promptings and how he uses fear and doubt to keep us from doing the things we should.
Yesterday we we had like a 20 min conversation over the phone with one of our new friends who we don't even really know yet and ended up asking him if he wanted to be baptized and he said yes. Crazy miracle. He said that he was baptized in another church but that he doesn't think they did it right because they didn't do the second part it talks about in the Bible which is when we receive the Holy Ghost. Also it makes sense that we have prophets who have power from God to lead the church. We just sat there baffled. He is so preapared. God is blessing us big time. Immediately after we said a huge gratitude prayer. God is so good.
At the Christmas lights there was a guy literally standing on a soap box preaching anti. It made me smile everytime I saw someone walk into the VC and throw the phamplet directly in the trash haha. He was speaking straight gibberish.
My spiritual thought for the week is a quote from one of the talks from the Christmas devotional that I studied this week. It reads "He was born to lift each one of us personally. And if He’s anyone’s, He is most certainly yours. Christ the babe was born for you." I love that because Christ is for everyone! He's for me, for you, and for anyone who is willing to come unto Him. Christmastime as a missionary is so bittersweet. It's hard to be away from family but being able to truly focus on Christ this Christmas season and share His message is such a privilege and a blessing.
Love and miss you all! Hope you all have a good Christmas!
