¡Feliz Año Nuevo!
Hello everyone! This week was pretty normal other than me being kinda sick. I hope you all had a good week and that the new year is off to a great start!
New years eve we got asked to go into the vc because we aren't allowed to drive after 6pm cuz of all the parties and stuff. Amyways, we live close enough to walk there so we were just there all night and it was super slow other than a few people coming in to complain about the xmas lights being off a day early. But being in the vc is the best and Bro Dalton brought us dairy queen blizzards so it was a good new years eve. Also out of the like 10 people who came in all night, there was only one spanish person. It was this guy who was super interested and we ended up getting his info and teaching him all about the Book of Mormon and showing him the Christus and talking about how Jesus loves us and it was super aweome.
I had an exchange with my stl on Saturday and we had a super good lesson with one of the people in her area. Since he lives with all guys he just brought out chairs and we did the lesson right in front of his apartment haha. We also did a blitz in the elders area and knocked a few streets and literally every single person we talked to was either english and not interested or already a member. Knocking apartments is usually fine but if we knock houses in a neighborhood then like half the people are already members and since our area book is spanish we don't have access to all of the English members records so we don't know where they all live and we acidentally knock their doors like all the time.
We have started teaching this lady named Militza who we met through a member and she is so so awesome! The first lesson with her was so good and she is probably the most elect person I have met so far on my mission. She's from Venezuela and is a single mom and has the cutest little daughter. She's already got member friends and is reading the Book of Mormon and keeping commitments so we are super excited to keep meeting with her.
We had a training in the vc this week on how to do better puppet shows for the kids at the vc and afterwards Sis Keller and my comp Hna Rocha gave the best puppet show and we were all dying laughing. I'll record one of the puppet shows we do and attach a clip of it on my email next week.
I had been fighting getting sick for like a week but Wednesday it hit and our dinner never answered that day so after district council and comp study we went home and I fell asleep and was out for like 4 hours straight. But I'm all good now.
I have been studying a bit recently about the light of Christ so my spiritual thought for the week is from the Book of Mormon in Helaman 13:29 where it says "Yea, how long will ye choose darkness rather than light?" and I like that because when we chose to focus on Christ everyday, our lives are brighter and better. Psalm 27:1 says "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?" So even though there are moments of darkness in our lives, Christ's light can guide us back to where we need to be.
